UPDATE: Moldovagaz says repays $74 mln debt to Gazprom

CHISINAU, Nov 26 (PRIME) -- Moldovan gas company Moldovagaz has paid a U.S. $74 million debt for gas supplies to Russian gas giant Gazprom, the company said in a statement on Friday.

“Moldovagaz has transferred payment to Gazprom for natural gas consumed in October and the first half of November of this year,” the company said.

Earlier on Friday, Moldova’s Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that the government has approved debt payment to Gazprom.

On Monday, Gazprom said it would suspend supplies to the country in 48 hours if it does not receive payment for the period ending on Monday. On Tuesday, the company agreed to wait until Friday.
